2020_08_20_welcome_mob_virtual_2On Thursday, Aug 20, the Office for International Cooperation welcomed the new international students who came to PUCRS for a virtual exchange program. The group consists of 68 students and is embraced by the Virtual Exchange Program, an initiative that allows students from partner institutions abroad to enroll in online courses at the University.

Students from 7 countries have joined the program: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and the UK. A larger number of seats for the course Portuguese for International Students has been offered by the School of Humanities. It has been a great success as all classes have reached its capacity for students.

In the virtual event, students were able to learn a little more about PUCRS and other interesting facts about Brazil and the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The idea was to integrate new students into the Brazilian context to develop intercultural skills and international perspectives.

New experiences

This is the second time some of the students have joined the mobility program at PUCRS. Antonio Nieto and Karla Pérez, from Universidad de Celaya, in Mexico, came to PUCRS in 2019, in the regular academic mobility program and are now back to have online classes.
