Representative of UK Embassy learns about renewable energy projects

PUCRS welcomed this week Clarissa Vargas, Energy Policy Officer of the Embassy of the UK. The purpose of the visit was for her to learn more about PUCRS’ initiatives and projects of PUCRS in the area of energy policies and renewable energies.

Clarissa was in the company of Eberson Silveira, School of Technology  professor and Manager of Strategic Planning of the Department of Mining and Energy of Rio Grande do Sul. She was welcomed by professors Adriano Moehlecke and Izete Zanesco in her visit to the Research Group for Solar Energy Technology (NT-Solar). Her tour also included a visit to the Wind Energy Center (CE-EÓLICA). New international cooperation projects are expected to take off after her visit.

Prosperity Fund

Clarissa discussed the joint initiative involving the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) and the UK government. The initiative has been designed for the development of green finances, within the Prosperity Fund. The program was created by the government of the UK to promote social and economic development in partner countries. It is expected to encourage investments of up to 80 million € (around R$ 407,5 million) from 2018 to 2022.
