President of UTMACH, Dr César Quesada Abad, signs agreement with PUCRS

PUCRS has signed a general agreement and addendum with Universidad Técnica de Machala – UTMACH (Ecuador), for academic mobility between the institutions. This is the first time the Porto Alegre-based institution signs an agreement with an Ecuadorian university. The agreement was entered into at the IUNC Americas 2017 – International Universities Networking Conference, from Dec 4 – 6, at the Florida International University, in Miami (USA), and was signed by the hands of UTMACH’s president, Dr César Quesada Abad.

IUNC Americas 2017 was intended to bring higher education institutions of the Americas closer together for cooperation. The conference featured more than 50 universities, many of which from Latin American countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica, Paraguay and Brazil. The attending institutions discussed relevant internationalization facts, practices and figures as well as future perspectives and trends. The conference also served to bring the institutions closer together for future partnerships.

PUCRS was represented by the administrative coordinator of the Office of International and Institutional Affairs, Mrs Sandra Becker, and international assistants Vitor Schaurich and Otávio Porcher. Mr Schaurich and Mr Porcher delivered the lecture PUCRS and Higher Education institutions overseas: strengthening the ties with Latin America and welcoming mobility students, and addressed the strategies to be used for consolidating the institution’s relationship with Latin American universities in the coming years. “At the conference we were able to prospect and establish new partnerships, which reinforced the importance of internationalization for universities and the popularity of this issue among professionals and faculty”, comments Sandra.
