PUCRS among best universities in Latin America

Institution fared well in new Latin American edition of QS ranking

PUCRS ranks among the best universities in Latin America according to the QS Latin America University Rankings 2021, designed by the British group Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The list was published on Wednesday, Nov 11 and the ranking’s main indicators are academic reputation and employer reputation. The University ranks 2nd in the list of private HEIs from Brazil.

PUCRS stood out especially in the categories faculty with PhD, number of articles per faculty and international research network. Out of the 410 educational institutions evaluated by this year’s ranking, 94 universities are from Brazil. Then, Mexico made its presence felt with 66 universities and Colombia with 60.

About the ranking

The QS Latin America University Rankings 2021 uses eight indicators in its evaluation criteria, with focus on academic reputation (30%) and employer reputation (20%), which account for 50% of the total score. Other criteria include faculty / student ratio (10%), professors with a PhD (10%), international research network (10%), citations per faculty (10%), number of articles per faculty (5%) and web impact (5%).
