PhD student from the Graduate Program in Education works in Europe

Bruna Detoni is participating in international course on the development of babies

The Graduate Program (PPG) in Education completed 50 years in 2022 and, during this journey, it strengthened several qualified academic interactions with partner institutions in Brazil as well as abroad. In addition to important agreements with partner universities, the program encourages mobility initiatives for students and professors for the development and internationalization of science and the production of knowledge in the Education field. Within these actions, the PhD student Bruna Detoni went to France and to Belgium to develop researches on the importance of the qualification of nursery teachers on the development and understanding of babies.

The student works as a clinical psychologist and is a part of the Center for Study and Research on Childhood(s) and Children Education (NEPIEI), the Psychology and Education Research Group and the Childhood Laboratory (LabInf) from PUCRS, connected to the PPG in Education, advised by researcher and professor from the School of Humanities Andreia Mendes. During her time abroad, the PhD student went to Paris and to Brussels to take the course titled Updates on working with babies: a European experience, offered by psychoanalyst Erika Parlato Oliveira through the Instituto Langage.

Bruna is also a part of the French Association La Cause des Bébés. She met Erika through the Instituto Langage and has been developing several studies through the Institute and the Association for over 3 years. With the course, the PUCRS student had the opportunity to get to know services and professionals who write, research and work with babies. In effect, Bruna got to know six public services for parents and children, focused on caring for babies and toddlers (0 to 3 years) and participated in conversations with six professionals who also work with this public.

Founded in 1972, the PPGEdu has already given degrees to 1.138 masters and 380 doctors, aligned with its mission of qualifying high-level researchers in Education, contributing in an interdisciplinary manner to the critical understanding of the educational reality with improvement in the qualify of education in Brazil. Its research and teaching structures are responsible for the scientific knowledge and for the qualification in the research field in Education and teaching, in universities, colleges, public and/or private schools.
