Argentinian Consul pays visit to PUCRS

Institution opens its doors to the country's new consular agent

On Mar 26, the President Br. Evilázio Teixeira, welcomed the Consul General of Argentina, Mr Jorge Perren. The meeting served to formally introduce him to the University. He arrived in Porto Alegre in late 2017.

Dr Teixeira re-stated the University’s interest in strengthen the cooperative ties with Latin American countries and talked about visits to Argentina that are scheduled for 2018 and are intended to bring the two countries together. Today, PUCRS has agreements with some higher education institutions from Argentina, such as Universidad Católica de Córdoba and Universidad de La Cuenca del Plata.

Dr Teixeira also took the opportunity to introduce the diplomat to the concept PUCRS 360°, an action based on national and international models of reference that addresses changes in four areas: student autonomy, comprehensive training, different learning methods and a different Campus. He also talked about the rankings that encapsulate the innovation actions performed at the institution. Among such rankings, we can mention the 14th issue of Campeãs da Inovação da Revista Amanhã, which earned PUCRS the title of most innovative institution in the south of Brazil.

In addition to meeting with the President, the Consul General also paid a visit to the PUCRS Science and Technology Park (Tecnopuc). Perren visited the business complex and made himself available to bring Argentinian companies and institutions closer together.

The meeting took place at the Great Hall and featured the Dean of International and Institutional Affairs, Dr Heloísa Delgado, and the Dean of Institutional Relations, Mr Solimar dos Santos Amaro.
