PUCRS ranks as best private university in south of Brazil in QS Latin America

Publication's 11th edition ranked 416 top higher education institutions in Latin America

PUCRS is once again among the best universities in 14 countries in Latin America and Caribbean. The QS Latin America Ranking 2022, published by British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), ranks PUCRS as the best private university in the south of Brazil. Its 11th edition ranked 416 institutions in Latin America.

In Brazil, 95 public and private universities were included on the list. We rank 2nd among all private institutions and 14th overall. This edition’s results reflect the figures and records of 2020.

QS Latin ranks the best Latin American and Caribbean universities in terms of research productivity and impact, employability, teaching commitment, digital impact and internationalization. Eight indicators are used: Academic Reputation, Employer’s Reputation; Faculty to Student Ratio; Staff with PhD; International Research Network; Citations per Paper; Papers per Faculty; and Online Impact.

Other awards

The QS World University Rankings 2022, published in June, listed the 1,300 top universities from all over the world. PUCRS is the first and only private institutions of higher education from Rio Grande do Sul to be on the list.

The University was also recognized as the best private university in the south of Brazil, according to the continuous Índice Geral de Cursos – IGC (General Index of Undergraduate and Graduate Programs – IGC), published in April by the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais – Inep (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research). PUCRS scored 3.7320, on a scale that goes from 1 to 5. That was the highest score achieved by the University since the indicator was created, in 2006.
