University of Bonn representatives to take part in activities at PUCRS

Visit aims to develop new cooperation projects and introduce guests to University practices

This week, PUCRS will be opening its doors to representatives of the University of Bonn, Germany. The delegation consists of the Vice President of International Affairs, Stephan Conermann, the Dean of International Affairs, Rahel Hutgens and the Coordinator of the Graduate Center, Clara Kaminsky.

On Aug 20, they were welcomed at the Great Hall of the President’s Office by Br Dr Evilázio Teixeira and by the Senior Vice President, Dr Jaderson Costa da Costa. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the School of Humanities and Deputy Director of the Center for European and German Studies  (CDEA) Dr Draiton Gonzaga; the Executive Coordinator of the Office for International Cooperation, Carla Cassol, and Professor Roberto Pich, who was nominated Ambassador of the University of Bonn in June.

The President stressed that PUCRS and the University of Bonn have a consolidated partnership, as several projects in cooperation in different areas have been developed. Conermann added that the visit here aims to develop new cooperation projects and introduce the delegation to the work done at the University. On Apr 2019, Bonn was awarded the seal of excellence in Germany, along with 10 other institutions.

Over the course of the week, the representatives of the German institution will take part in various activities on Campus. Visitors will be doing a tour of the University to visit places such as the Brain Institute, Science and Technology Park, Science and Technology Museum and CDEA. Strategic meetings with PUCRS representatives are also on the schedule.

On Thursday, Aug 22, at 10 AM, they will be attending the lecture University of Bonn – A German University of Excellence Presents Itself: A Dialogue on Research and Study Opportunities, in Room 313 of Living 360°. In the session they will be presenting study and research opportunities at the institution. On Friday, Aug 23, thy will be delivering the workshop Slavery and Freedom, for students in the Graduate Program in Philosophy.
