This catalog is a sample of the flora found at the Pró-Mata Center for Research and Nature Conservation of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Pró-Mata is located in northeastern Rio Grande do Sul, in the Araucaria Plateau and the edge of the Serra Geral, in the municipalities of São Francisco de Paula, Maquiné and Itati. The area of around 3.100ha includes native grasslands, montane forests with Araucaria (Mixed Ombrophilous Forest), slope forests (Dense Ombrophilous Forest), and a complex mosaic of vegetation at different stages of ecological succession.

Images of 236 of the approximately 750 species of vascular plants cataloged at Pró-Mata are presented. Species are organized in large groups (seedless vascular plants, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms) and alphabetically, by family. Most photos are by German photographer Heike Betz, the first author of the catalog, from the University of Tübingen, Germany. Identification has been made by co-authors Cláudio Augusto Mondin (PUCRS) and Nelson Ivo Matzenbacher, Luis Fernando Paiva Lima and Rodrigo Scarton Bergamin (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul).
