PUCRS welcomes 27 higher education institutions for Marist International Network Assembly

From Apr 26 – 29, PUCRS will be home to the X Assembly of the Marist International Network of Institutions of Higher Education, in Porto Alegre. The theme of the event is Innovation, Development and Transformation. Representatives of the General Government of the Marist Institute and leaders of 27 Marist Higher Education Institutions around the world will be joining forces to make their contribution.
The Assembly is the most important decision-making and project development arena among the HEIs. In this edition, the program will feature presentations on the work developed by the Executive Committee since the last face-to-face meeting, in 2019, in Lima, Peru. Josep Miquel Piqué, president of La Salle Technova Innovation Park, in Barcelona and of the Catalan Network of Science Parks (XPCAT), will be making his presence felt.
For Br. Manuir Mentges, Senior Vice President of PUCRS, and President of the Network’s Executive Board, the event is an opportunity to reflect upon Marist education in Higher Education. “By reflecting upon and reinforcing its purpose, which is Innovation, Development and Transformation in Marist HEIs, the meeting will discuss and approve its strategic plan and its organizational structure”, he says.
Following a journey that began in 2004, the X Assembly’s main goals are to reflect upon the context of Innovation in Marist Higher Education, reinforce and approve the Network’s Strategic Plan, build and approve the Network’s operating model and, finally, share good practices.
“It will also be a time to share good practices, join forces and validate projects that can connect us at local and global levels, fostering internationalization and networking”, the Senior Vice President highlights.
The Marist International Network of Institutions of Higher Education (HEI) currently consists of 27 institutions that are in line with the General Administration of the Institute of the Marist Brothers, in Rome, seeking to connect with one another to accomplish its mission. Being founded in 2004, this network intends to create opportunities for partnerships, training programs and joint projects, thus maximizing its activities in higher education in more than 10 countries.
