On Monday, Dec 6, PUCRS opened its doors to members of Sonangol, Angola’s state-owned oil company, and Siano & Rego, to advance the partnership that allows Angolan students to pursue an undergraduate degree at PUCRS. Thus far, this partnership has allowed 8 Electrical and Chemical Engineering majors to finish their degrees.

Sonangol is an exclusive Angolan company that explores liquid and gas hydrocarbons from the underground and on the continental shelf. They sponsor Angolan students to go to various universities across the United States, Europe and South America.

On the other hand, Siano & Rego is a company located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, specialized in business and people management consulting. They advise of international students and creating partnerships with educational institutions.

The visit allowed Sonangol, the project’s funding company, to visit PUCRS’ Main Campus and talk to the School of Technology stakeholders about the progress of the partnership. According to Anderson Terroso, School of Technology professor, both parties wish to continue with this partnership and continue opening our doors to Angolan students to study at PUCRS
