For a month, Sofia Sarmala, a sophomore student from the Medical School of Tampere University, Finland, came to the Brain Institute (BraIns) to do an internship at the Imaging Center. Her visit was made possible through a partnership between PUCRS and the International Federation of Medical Students. She took part in research projects and completed an observership in the Radiology Department.

“I really enjoyed my stay at the Brain Institute, which is a cutting-edge facility with an inspiring atmosphere. The multiprofessional perspective expands our horizons in the area of radiology”, she says.

Sofia was overseen by Dr. Bruno Hocchegger, professor of the School of Medicine of PUCRS, who is responsible for BraIns’ Imaging Center and São Lucas Hospital of PUCRS. He showed her around the two institutions as well as the Radiology and Internal Medicine Departments. “The best part of this exchange was meeting so many wonderful people who are inspired to work with radiology, do research and spread their enthusiasm to everyone,” concludes Sofia.
