Once again, PUCRS has earned the #1 position in the areas of Teaching and Research in the Campeãs da Inovação, a ranking promoted by Grupo Amanhã. Results of the 15th edition were revealed on Apr 16. The list includes the 50th most innovative companies of Brazil, in 28 economy sectors in three specific segments: Research / Teaching, Small and Medium-Sized Companies (PMEs) and Public Companies. Overall, 200 organizations were included in the list. The University was represented by the Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr Carla Bonan and by the Vice President of Undergraduate Studies and Continuing Education, Br. Manuir Mentges.

The ranking

Two companies played a key role in the compilation: IXL – Center for Innovation, Excellence and Leadership, which specializes in innovation practices and small and medium-sized business acceleration and Innovation Management Index, a tool developed by Global Innovation Management Institute (Gimi). Both institutions are based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

Methodology

The 500 largest companies in the south of Brazil received an invitation letter to access the Campeãs de Inovação questionnaire. Companies that did not appear in the list, but answered the questionnaire, also had the chance to have their regional units registered. The questionnaire has 30 questions in English that may lead to other questions. Then, the managers can share information about how the company addressed innovation strategies, processes and resources in the year 2015. Questionnaires were assembled at the main headquarters of IXL-Center, in the USA.
