As the scholastic semester is yet to begin, some of the international students who came to PUCRS in the second semester of 2018 in the academic mobility program have been enjoying the summer break to visit places in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, other states of Brazil and even some neighboring countries. Some of these students will be staying here in the first semester of 2019. Rio de Janeiro, Foz do Iguaçu, São Paulo, Florianópolis, Gramado and other cities in the Serra Gaúcha, as well as Argentina, were some of the places they decided to visit.

Spanish students Isabel Suárez and Silvia Cruz, from Universidad de León, Laura Domíngues, from Universidad de Lleida, and Silvia Ramirez, from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, headed to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to spend Christmas and then, headed to Florianópolis (SC) and Foz do Iguaçu (PR) to celebrate New Year’s. They also took the opportunity to travel to the cities of Gramado and Bento Gonçalves, in the Serra Gaúcha. Rio de Janeiro and Maranhão are in their list for February, and so is a road trip to Salvador.

Hugo Chircop, from Université Bordeaux Montaigne, France, enjoyed the company of the Mexican friends he made during his mobility program at PUCRS and flew to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro during the break. Although some of his classmates headed back to Mexico, Hugo will be staying here for another semester.

German student Melinna Sonne, from Georg-August-University Göttingen, will be doing an internship at the Center for European and German Studies  (CDEA). She also took the opportunity to visit Praia do Rosa, in Santa Catarina at the end of the year. In January, she welcomed her parents, who came from Germany, to visit Brazil. During their stay, they went to Foz do Iguaçu and the Santa Catarina mountains, as well as Porto Alegre. “I had the chance to introduce them to a little bit of the gaúcho culture, as we went to a churrascaria and did tours of the city. They enjoyed it a lot and I am very happy to be staying here in Brazil for another semester”, she adds.
