Representative of the University of California Irvine discusses collaborative projects

PUCRS and the American University have been partners since 2015

Victoria Jones, Coordinator of the Office of International Relations, University of California Irvine (UCI), came to PUCRS last week for a visit coordinated by PUCRS Science and Technology Park (Tecnopuc). The visitor from the American university was welcomed at PUCRS’ Office for International Cooperation to discuss the development of cooperation projects in the areas of Medicine, Innovation, Engineering and Biodiversity.

The meeting was attended by ECI professor and executive coordinator Carla Denise Bonan, and also by Daniela Eckert, the person responsible for prospecting and negotiation at Tecnopuc, Graduate Studies Director Luiz Gustavo Leão Fernandes, and Gabriela Wallau Rodrigues, a professor at PUCRS Law School and member of the Academic Development Coordination (Prograd). In the afternoon, Victoria was hosted by Sandra Einloft, Dean and Professor of the Polytechnic School, who showed her more about the courses, laboratories and facilities offered by the School.

At PUCRS Science and Technology Park, the international visitor met with Rafael Chanin, professor and coordinator of Tecnopuc Startups. At this meeting, they advanced in the organization of an international competition of collaborative startups, which aims to take the Brazilian winners to the North American university and bring the American winners to PUCRS.

Under the partnership between the universities, from PUCRS Polytechnic School Professor Rafael Prikladnicki has been working as a visiting professor at the UCI since September 2021. Besides, the event Topics in Neuroscience – Biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases was held in 2015, counting on the presence of UCI professors Howard Federoff, Massimo Fiandanca and Mark Mapstone at PUCRS.
