Event occurs from Sep 26 - 28, at the auditorium of Building 40 at PUCRS
The 1st International Congress Walter Benjamin: Barbarism and ethical memory occurs from Sep 26 – 28, 2018 at the auditorium of building 40 on the Main Campus Campus (avenida Ipiranga, 6681 – Porto Alegre). Sponsored by PUCRS in partnership with Goethe-Institut Porto Alegre, it will provide researchers and enthusiasts on the work of the Berliner philosopher with an opportunity for discussions in favor of a contemporary philosophy. The complete program and registrations will be available in the second half of July.
In preparation for the event, the Graduate Program in Philosophy of PUCRS and the University’s Research Group Images of Thought have promoted a series of debates. In May, the debate was mediated by School of Humanities’ professor, Dr Marcos Messerschmidt, and Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro professor, Dr Kelvin Falcão Klein. In June, the workshop was delivered by Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel) professor, Dr Helano Ribeiro, and by Dr Alexandre Pandolfo. Guests: Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF) professors Dr Francisco Fianco and Dr Bruna Bortolini Lastly, in August, the event was mediated by Mrs Manuela Mattos and PUCRS professor Dr Ricardo Timm de Souza
