Introduction

The Graduate Program in Biomedical Gerontology (GERONBIO) of the Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology (IGG) is intended to produce professionals with specific know-how, abilities, competences and attitudes to conduct research, teach, do extension work and provide care in view of the academic quality, ethics and social relevance in an interdisciplinary way, upon completion of the Master’s and PhD programs.

It consists of one area of concentration (Biomedical Gerontology) and four lines of research:

(1) Biological Aspects of Aging,

(2) Clinical and Emotional Aspects in Aging,

(3) Sociocultural, Demographic and Bioethical Aspects in Aging and

(4) Aging and Public Health.

The Graduate Program in Biomedical Gerontology (GERONBIO) of the Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology (IGG) is intended to produce Masters and PhDs with outstanding ability and interdisciplinary competence in Biomedical Gerontology.

Master’s: 24 credits
Doctorate: 36 credits
Master’s: minimum of 12 and maximum of 24 months
Doctorate: minimum of 30 and maximum of 54 months
