The Dean of Graduate Studies of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies (Propesq) and School of Health and Life Sciences professor Dr Christian Haag Kristensen has joined the Board of Directors of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). ISTSS is the largest international and interdisciplinary scientific society in the area of ​​trauma and traumatic stress, congregating people from over 50 countries. He was officially admitted at the 35th ISTSS Annual Meeting in Boston, United States, from Nov 12-16, 2019.

The mission of this organization is to advance and exchange knowledge about traumatic stress. In 2017, in partnership with the Graduate Program in Psychology, ISTSS promoted the event Urban Violence and Trauma in Developing Countries: Basic Research, Clinical Interventions, and Public Health at PUCRS.

“Latin America, as a whole, and Brazil, in particular, being represented in this society contributes to international efforts in scientific research, prevention and treatment of trauma and stressor disorders can also be directed towards our reality”, he says.
