The 5th Seminar on the Brazilian Migration to Europe (SIBE), which happens alternately in different cities, took place at Università Gabriele D’Annunzio, in Pescara (Italy), in November, and featured School of Humanities professor, Dr Paulo Ricardo Kralik. He first came into contact with the organizers of the event in 2016, as he was working on his postdoctoral research at Universidade de Lisboa. “I met the group of professors at the 4th SIBE, in Germany. My areas of interest are very much in line with the areas of interest of the seminar as I do research the images of Brazil that have been built in 21st century Portuguese literature, especially how Brazilian migrants are depicted”, explains he.

The meeting featured many renowned professors in this area and was a great opportunity to exchange practices. As a consequence, the Modern Languages professor of PUCRS was invited to present his project at Italian universities, such as Perugia and Rome. “We’ll also have one of these professors as a member of a doctoral committee, in march”, adds he.
