Dr Salma D. Mohamed is a Lecturer in the Department of Cyber Security and Networks in the School of Computing, Engineering & Built Environment. She received her BSc (Hons) and MSc degrees in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

Following this, she obtained her PhD degree in Optical Communications Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2015. Before joining Cyber Security and Networks Dept. in GCU in 2019, she worked as Occasional Lecturer in GCU. Dr Mohamed has a number of publications in renowned journals/conferences.

Her research interests are Wireless Optical Communications Systems, Optical Networks, Wireless Optical Energy Harvesting, and RF Communications Systems.

She has been involved in many STEM activities. She has organised STEM Camp for our local secondary pupils for 3 days in June 2022. She also contributed in teaching the “Women Do Cyber” course, which is an initiative to encourage women to work in the field of Cyber Security.
