Introduction

The Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering – PPGEE of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS has been developed to educate professionals for the purposes of teaching, research, and development of technological innovations.

Focused on Control, Automation and Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Telecommunication Systems, the Program is intended to meet the needs of both the public and private sectors, thus generating and attracting technological innovations of high aggregate value to the country, in emerging areas of research and development.

The Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering – PPGEE of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS has been developed to educate professionals for the purposes of teaching, research, and development of technological innovations. Focused on Control, Automation and Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Telecommunication Systems, the Program is intended to meet the needs of both the public and private sectors, thus generating and attracting technological innovations of high aggregate value to the country, in emerging areas of research and development.

PPGEE stands out for the relevance of the research carried out to the demands of the production sector, which can be attested by the large number of research and development projects funded by telecommunications, automation, biomedical engineering and computing companies. Additionally, the PPGEE has been conducting projects using funding from agencies such as CNPq, FAPERGS and FINEP as well as national and international institutions.

The program is structured in a system of course credits and each academic year is divided into two semesters. Students must complete, within a period of 24 months, 24 credits in courses, English language proficiency, a preliminary project and the public defense of a thesis. During the program, students will also have the opportunity to take part in ongoing research projects within the various Lines of Research.
