International students from partner universities were given a warm reception on Wednesday, Mar 1, at PUCRS. The Academic Exchange Orientation Seminar, offered by the Academic Mobility Office, kicked off in the morning and included activities aimed at bringing the students together, as well as orientation sessions addressing important information, such as useful telephone numbers, regularization procedures and relevant facts about Porto Alegre.

Erica Rico, a student from Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios, in Colombia, expects that the exchange give her a chance to get deeper insights into the area of Audiovisual Production, under a different perspective. Alba Ferrando, from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, expects to earn complementary credits for her Master’s in Social Sciences. “In addition to brushing up my Portuguese, I hope to learn more about public policies and the Brazilian government”, claims she. Katharina Jung, a student from Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Germany, hopes to continue her studies in the area of Political Sciences.

More activities will be offered until Friday, Mar 3. On Wednesday afternoon, the exchange students went on a guided tour to the Pastoral and Solidarity CenterCareer’s Office and to the Sports Park. A final activity featured the buddy program’s partners, undergraduate and graduate students responsible for helping the exchange students acclimate to their new life at PUCRS. On Thursday, Mar 2, in the morning, students were invited to join a free guided tour around the city. In the afternoon, they had the chance to go on a guided tour to the Main Library. Lastly, the orientation session included with tours around Campus and a visit to Global Tecnopuc. After that, they were invited to a lecture on academic orientation, and another featuring lieutenant-colonel of the Military Brigade, Marcelo Pitta, as well as a reception at the Hospitality Laboratory.
