This is the first time the conference occurs in Brazil. Previous editions took place in Liverpool and Winchester, in the UK.

The event will bring renowned international researchers in the areas of philosophy, education and pedagogy. Here are some of the researchers that have confirmed their presences to the 2019 edition: Professor Judith Suissa, from University College London, Professor Carl Safstrom, from National University of Ireland and Professor Sharon Todd, from Northeastern Illinois University.

The event is being offered by the Graduate Program in Education  (PPGE), in partnership with the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Universidade de Caxias do Sul, Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, Universidade Federal Fluminense, University College of London and National University of Ireland. The idea is to share experiences and insights from the areas of Philosophy of Education and Critical Pedagogy and advance the integration and cooperation projects involving researchers in the area of Education.

Dr Alexandre Anselmo Guilherme, who coordinates the program, claims that the event will congregate a number of specialists and people interested in Philosophy of Education in an effort to share Latin American and European experiences. Guilherme, who teaches in the PPGE, sees that the event will bring to Brazil important works on education and democracy developed by internationally recognized philosophers of education.
