The Oliveira Lima 150th Anniversary will take place on October 3rd and 4th, 2017, at the Pontificial Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS, in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The event celebrates the 150th birthday of Manoel de Oliveira Lima (Recife, 12/25/1867, Washington D.C., 03/24/1928), bringing together experts from various fields of the Social Sciences and Humanities to discuss the main facets of his long and prolific career as a diplomat, historian, journalist and literary critic.
The occasion is ideal not only to celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most important intellectuals of his generation but also represents an effort to shed light on and discuss the most recent research produced in Brazil and abroad on his life and works.
Undergraduate and graduate students and researchers in the fields of History, Sociology, Political Science, Literature, International Relations, and its subfields. The general public interested in the life and work of Manoel de Oliveira Lima.

Entries for communications will be closed on 09/14/2017. The result of the approved works will be announced on this site on 09/15/2017.
Papers should discuss any aspect of the life and/or work of Oliveira Lima. Contributions from any discipline in the Social Sciences and Humanities are welcome and interdisciplinary works are encouraged.
Abstracts must be 200 words max. The papers must be between 7000 and 9000 words.
TIME LOAD: 16 HOURS
A certificate will be issued to all those who obtain a minimum of 75% attendance.
