University of Miami professor discusses Bioethics at PUCRS

Last week, PUCRS opened its doors to Dr. Sérgio Litewka, from University of Miami (USA), in support of the Institutional Project of Internationalization (PUCRS-PrInt). He is under the cooperation project Human development: knowledges and practices for a world in motion, under the priority area World in Motion: Individuals and Society.

The professor was welcomed at the Office for International Cooperation to learn a little more about the University’s structure and ongoing actions. He also did a tour of PUCRS, visiting facilities such as the Main Library and Living 360º.

On May 26, Dr. Litewka delivered the lecture Ethical Considerations on the Use of Artificial Intelligence, as he addressed new ethical challenges on the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health care and its applications for prognosis, diagnosis and models for clinical decision.

The lecture was attended by students from different graduate programs of the University. On May 31, Litewka gave the lecture Artificial Intelligence and the Doctor-Patient Relationship at the Auditorium of the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (BraIns).

Lastly, he attended meetings to expand cooperation between the University of Miami and PUCRS, especially in the areas of bioethics and ethics in artificial intelligence.
