Medicine and Technology programs among the best in Latin America

PUCRS has the best Medical School program of all private universities in Brazil, according to the QS Quacquarelli Symonds. In QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, PUCRS’ Medical School program is in the Latin American top 25. Another highlight was in the area of Computer Science and Information Systems, as the university ranked #2 among private HEIs in Brazil and in the Latin American top 30.

In the ranking’s 12th edition, 51 programs from 1,543 institutions from all over the world were evaluated, including 32 from Brazil, in five major areas: Arts and Humanities; Engineering and Technology; Life Sciences and Medicine; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences and Administration.

The criteria include

Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Research citations per paper, H-Index; International Research networks. With 268 programs from 32 institutions ranked this year, Brazil is the 15th most represented country in the world. As for the programs in the top 100, the country ranks 21st globally, based on 51 programs across seven institutions.

Other PUCRS distinctions

The QS World University Rankings 2021 listed PUCRS as the first and only private education institution from Rio Grande do Sul on the list. The University was also recognized as the best private institution in the south of the country, according to the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep), with a score of 3.7320, on a scale that ranges from 1 to 5. It was the highest score ever recorded by the University since the indicator was created in 2006. Find out more about it.
