PUCRS THE Emerging Economies 2020 - ENGLISH-noticiaThe latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020 placed PUCRS among the top 10 Brazilian institutions, considering both private and federal institutions, in its ranking focused on emerging countries. In the survey released on Tuesday, February 18, PUCRS rose two positions, improving its score in four of the five items evaluated by the institution. Besides, the University remains the second best private university in the country. Brazil has more than 2,500 higher education institutions (according to a survey by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira), and, therefore, the result places the university in a prominent position in a global level.

Among the highlights of the ranking, PUCRS ranks first among Brazilian private institutions in terms of citations and third among both private and federal universities in the country in industry income. The University also improved its score in teaching and research, as compared to the 2019 ranking results.

The survey ranks a total of 533 universities from 47 different countries. Brazil has the highest representation in Latin America, with 46 institutions ranked. The Times Higher Education is considered one of the most important global higher education indicators, using 13 performance indicators and assessing the strengths of each university in relation to all of its main activities.
