According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Latin America 2022, published on Jul 14, PUCRS is again among the best universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. The institution appears as the #1 private university in the south of Brazil, #2 among all private Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Brazil, and 14th overall, in a list that includes 197 institutions from 13 countries.

Since 2016, PUCRS has been climbing higher and higher in this publication. In the ranking – considered one of the most important indicators of higher education in the world –, the University stands out especially in terms of Citations, being the 6th best Brazilian HEI (including public and private institutions). This recognition highlights the influence of research from 2017 and 2022.

The Times Higher Education (THE) assesses universities in five different categories: teaching (36%), research (34%), citation impact (20%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry revenue (2.5%). This shows the work developed in these areas and reinforces PUCRS’ commitment to having a positive impact on society, to the production of knowledge and to teaching excellence.

For the second year in a row, PUCRS is the only private institution from Rio Grande do Sul in the QS World University Rankings 2023. In this list, PUCRS fares among the best universities in Brazil, and the #3 private Higher Education Institution in the country.

Conducted by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the ranking analyzed 2,462 universities in 100 countries: only 1,422 were included. Brazil has 35 institutions in the ranking, four of which from Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to PUCRS, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) and Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPEL) are in the ranking.
