The professor of the School of Health and Life Sciences, Dr Eduardo Gonçalves Mota went to the School of Dental Medicine of Roseman University, in the USA, under PUCRS-PrInt. He met with the director of the Graduate Program, Prashanti Bollu, and with the faculty of the North American institution, including Karthikeyan Subramani, with whom Mota has had a consolidated partnership of joint publications since 2012.

During his stay in the United States, the professor gave a lecture on Nanotechnology in Operative Dentistry to the faculty and students of the institution. “I introduced them to PUCRS-PrInt and to our institution. I also summarized the research findings from the Graduate Program in Dentistry of PUCRS’ School of Health and Life Sciences that have been accomplished since 2006. I also presented the publications, dissertations and theses advised by the faculty of our Program and the partnership with the Interdisciplinary Center of Nanoscience and Micro-Nanotechnology, NANOPUCRS”, Mota says.

In addition, the mission enabled Eduardo and Subramani to assess the findings of previous publications in order to continue writing articles together in the future. In a particular moment, they signed the two issues of Emerging Nanotechnologies in Dentistry, a book published in partnership in 2012 and 2018.

Mota also visited the institution’s facilities such as dental clinics and research center. As for research, the partners decided to continue working on the interinstitutional project Nanofiller dispersion in dental composites, as samples produced and tested at PUCRS were submitted to additional tests at the US University. “In this way, I would like to thank the coordinator of NANOPUCRS, professor Dr Ricardo Papaléo and PhD student Cristiane Boniatti for the joint efforts in the production of nanomaterials”, he concludes.

Eduardo Mota is working on the project Development of Innovative Technologies and Processes in Health, which is coordinated by Professor Maria Martha Campos and embraced by the priority area Health in Human Development.
