What is it?
If you can’t come to the Museum, we'll take the Museum to you!!

The Traveling Museum Program (Promusit) of the Museum of Science and Technology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (MCT-PUCRS) is dedicated to bringing the science and technology of the Museum to people around the country by transporting portable versions of our exhibits, accompanied by a group of approximately 15 scientists, teachers, and technicians, to cultural events, exhibitions, and fairs.

The exhibits are designed for people of all ages to learn about science and technology by having fun manipulating interactive equipment and taking part in scientific presentations. They can be arranged in an area of more than 800m², where people can learn about science in a playful and interactive way.

The Program uses a specially designed truck to carry 70 exhibits and dozens of interactive educational kits fo the development of workshops and short courses. Once the truck arrives at its destination and is unloaded, it is transfomed into a modern auditorium where scientific lectures given and documentaries are given. The auditorium has air conditioning, a stereo system, a home theater, multimedia systems, internet and satellite communication systems, and is equipped with microscopes and other scientific equipment. It has already traveled to more than 75 events and has been attended by more than one million seven hundred thousand people since begining its activities in October, 2001!
