Both joined the 1st International Congress of Brazilian Literature, in tribute to writer Nélida Piñon. The novelist and essayist, born in Rio de Janeiro, received in 2006 the title Doctor Honoris Causa by PUCRS.

Kralik , as a member in the event’s scientific committee, coordinated a round of discussions and presented a paper. Maria Eunice presented the paper Nélida Piñon: na ladeira íngreme da crítica, um sobe e desce de opiniões (Nélida Piñon: a multitude of criticism, a variety of opinions). As representatives of PUCRS, Maria Eunice and Kralik invited Universidad de Salamanca professor Ascensión Rivas Hernández, to teach the course and take part in the 13th International Seminar of Literature, in Oct 2019.

“The Center of Brazilian Studies, headed by Ascensión, has done a very good job for the literature of Brazil and of the Portuguese-speaking countries, with an annual agenda of events. The Universidad de Salamanca has been a great partner of the Graduate Program in Letters of PUCRS”, says Kralik.

They also met with Universidade de Lisboa professors, Vania Pinheiro Chaves and Alva Teixeiro to discuss the new guidelines of Navegações, a journal of Portuguese-speaking Literatures and Cultures, which is edited by both institutions. The journal was previously under the responsibility of Maria Eunice and Vania, but now will be coordinated by Alva and Kralik.
