International specialists discuss urban violence and trauma

International Congress Urban Violence And Trauma In Developing CountriesThe escalating urban violence and the emotional and traumatic impacts resulting from this social problem will be discussed in the International Congress Urban Violence And Trauma In Developing Countries: Basic Research, Clinical Interventions, And Public Health, at PUCRS from Jun 30 to Jul 1. Several international guests have been invited, such as Ulrich Schnyder, from Switzerland; Maureen Alwood and Marcelo Korc, from the USA; Daniel Mosca, from Argentina and Carolina Salgado, from Chile.

The congress will discuss other urban violence and trauma-related issues as well as proposals for intervention (preventive and therapeutic) for violence and their effects on society and on individuals. The event will rely on simultaneous interpreting (English/Portuguese) and will be offered by PUCRS and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, with support from Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes) and Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).
