Austrian Ambassador learns about PUCRS’ renewable energy projects

The Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Brazil, Irene Giner-Reichl, visited PUCRS on July 15. The diplomat and her husband, Reinahrd Giner, had lunch with President Br. Evilázio Teixeira, the Dean of the School of Humanities, and Deputy Director of the Center for German and European Studies (CDEA), Dr Draiton Gonzaga as well as Prof. Kathrin Rosenfield, Honorary Consul of Austria for Porto Alegre.

In her visit to PUCRS, Irene visited the Science and Technology Park of PUCRS (Tecnopuc), where she had the chance to learn about the Multidisciplinary Group of Solar Energy Technology  (NT-Solar). On the Main Campus, Giner-Reichl went to the Center for Demonstration of Renewable Energies (CEDER) and Wind Power Laboratory (CE-EÓLICA).

The topic of energies deserves special attention in her diplomatic mission in Brazil. Irene presides the Global Forum on Sustainable Energy (GFSE), which was founded in 1999. The public-private platform was created to discuss energies at the service of sustainable development. She also co-founded the Global Women Net for the Energy Transition (GWNET), a network that is intended to advance the equality for women in the energy sector. Since 2013, she has served as Deputy President of the Renewable Energy Policy Network REN21. She has shown interest in future partnerships in the area of ​​energies with the institution.
