V BRISPE – V Brazilian Meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics

INTRODUCTION

The Brazilian Meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics (BRISPE) has been held since 2010. The Brazilian research community has helped make this initiative increasingly broader (http://revistapesquisa.fapesp.br/2014/09/16/compromisso-acao/), and the meeting is now in its fifth edition. The IV BRISPE focused on the role of mentors, editors and funders to address research integrity issues in the research community. Now, time is ripe for graduate programs in Brazil to share ideas and strategies to address this topic.

The V BRISPE will be held on October 25-26, 2018, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), under the theme “Research Integrity and The Reliability of the Research Record: The Role of Graduate Programs”. The major goal is to foster debates and actions that can strengthen the reliability and quality of Brazilian science in all research fields involving graduate students and their mentors. The V BRISPE will encourage audience participation in lively sessions that should continue to stimulate a critical attitude of all those involved in the Brazilian system of education, science and technology toward an ethical and responsible conduct in doing and communicating science.

Researchers, graduate students, undergraduate students, policymakers and research funders.

DATE AND VENUE OF THE EVENT

The V BRISPE will be held from 25^th to 26^th October 2018 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil.

Each participant can submit up to two abstracts (as presenting author).

The V Brazilian Meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics (V BRISPE) invites proposals for poster associated with the theme of the event: “Research Integrity and The Reliability of the Research Record: The Role of Graduate Programs”.

[Research and Education Section]

Abstracts directly or indirectly related to this theme are welcome and may encompass issues related to research integrity, such as graduate and postdoctoral training; research integrity and the reliability of research; research integrity, reliability and open science; research integrity, pre- and post-publication peer review; research integrity and conflicts of interest in the communication of science; research integrity, mentoring and research reliability; publication ethics (in general); research integrity and the correction of the literature; responsible conduct of research in proposing and communicating science to peers and to the public.

For this section, abstracts on the following focal issues are of interest to the V BRISPE (other topics may be considered by the committee): national and institutional initiatives to foster responsible research in graduate programs.

All abstracts should be submitted through the conference e-mail: [email protected] by August 13^th. Decisions on acceptance will be made by August 24^th. Please, check Registration deadlines.

Presenters who need earlier confirmation of acceptance in order to secure travel support to attend the IV BRISPE are requested to submit proposals by April 30^th, 2018.

For these early submissions, acceptance decision will be made by May 10^th, 2018.

For an accepted work to be included in the Program, at least one of the authors must be a paid registrant.
