IV Seminário Internacional de Fonologia

The fourth edition of the Seminário Internacional de Fonologia will be held at PUCRS, April 25-27 2012.


Invited lecturers:

Paul Kiparsky (Stanford University)
Ben Hermans (Meertens Instituut, Amsterdam)
Ricardo Bermúdez-Otero (University of Manchester)
Leo Wetzels (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)

The seminar will feature short courses preceding the event, on April 23 and 24.

The programme of the IV Seminário Internacional de Fonologia also includes three round-tables on Variation and Phonology, Phonological Theory and Phonology of Indigenous Languages.

We welcome paper on any area of phonology. Submissions of abstracts is done here through the registration page.

The submitted abstracts will be evaluated by two reviewers.

The abstracts can be submitted for oral presentation or for poster.

Purposes:

The IV Seminário Internacional de Fonologia aims to:
  • bring together researchers in Brazil, Latin America and other continents that work in the areas of Phonetics, Theoretical Phonology, Description of the Indigenous Languages, Phonological Variation and Change, Phonological Acquisition, among others, to the intensification of scientific exchange and cooperation ties;
  • discuss and evaluate recent results of national research in various areas of Phonetics and Phonology, seeking the advancement of knowledge in the area, the qualification of national and regional scientific production, and their integration and tuning with the international research agenda.
  • to present and disseminate recent research findings in various areas of national Phonetics Phonology, especially for the scientific community in South America, seeking to encourage the training of new researchers and the updating and improvement of professionals working or interested in the two areas.


Intended Audience:

Teachers, researchers, post-graduate students and undergraduates in the areas of Linguistics, Letters and related areas.
