Senior Vice President joins mission in Portugal

Strengthening the ties between Brazilian and Portuguese universities through Comung

Comung group at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria

PUCRS’ Senior Vice President,  Dr Jaderson Costa da Costa, joined a mission of the Consortium of Private Non-Profit Universities of Rio Grande do Sul (Comung), in Portugal. The mission served to introduce visitors to the Portuguese innovation environments and higher education institutions, thus strengthening the ties between both institutions and seeking to bring entrepreneurship insights into the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

Costa adds that this mission is important for it breaks the higher education barriers and fosters international relations, bringing about research opportunities and agreements for PUCRS students. “We want to give our undergraduate and graduate students more study abroad opportunities. The double majors we offer are an example of that”, says he.

The group took off on Saturday, Nov 18. In Lisbon, Dr Costa paid a visit to the president of the Universidade de Málaga, José Ángel Narvárez Bueno; and the Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, as he was welcomed by its president Nuno André Oliveira Mangas Pereira and by the agents responsible for each center. They also had the opportunity to visit to the Center for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development, in the city of Marinha Grande.

On Nov 21, the group went to the School of Arts and Design in the city of Caldas da Rainha, and to Peniche, as they visited the School of Tourism and Sea Technology and the R&D Center – Maritime Knowledge Production and Dissemination, at the Peniche fishing harbor.

On Wednesday, Nov 22, the representatives of Rio Grande do Sul went to  the Universidade do Porto, welcomed by its president Dr Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, and visited Porto Inovação. On Thursday, Nov 23, the group will be paying a visit to UPTEC TECH – Technology Center of the Science and Technology Park of University of Porto. The group returns to Brazil on Nov 25.
