The 60 students of PUCRS who will begin their academic mobility program in partner universities abroad had a pre-departure orientation session on Jul 2. They received information about the program, transfer policies, registration as well as entry and departure documents. They learned about possible cultural shocks, challenges and opportunities in an effort to have an enriching experience overseas. The activity was headed by the Office for International Cooperation.

Ready for new experiences

Ana Carolina Peres Bogo, a Creative Writing  student, from the School of Humanities, chose Northeastern Illinois University, in the USA, as Creative Writing had its origins in that country. “I hope to learn things that I never thought I could learn or need. I want to open my horizons with the program, experience different cultures, people, thoughts that I would not usually have the opportunity to, “she says.

Nairhiani Oliveira Antunes Callegaro, a Civil Engineering major, from the School of Technology, signed up for the BRAFITEC program at Yncréa – HEI, France. The desire to do an exchange during his undergraduate studies was triggered after she heard about the scholarship program for Engineering students. “I believe that a mobility program will open doors and give me a number of opportunities. These include self-knowledge as I will spend a year living all by myself in a completely different setting as well as awareness to academic and professional issues as I will have the chance to learn a lot at the University, ” he adds.
