The President of PUCRS, Br Evilázio Teixeira, is in Kuala Lumpur for the 2017 Global Innovation Summit, from Nov 28 – 30. More than 20 presidents of universities from all over the globe as well as government and industry representatives and research scholars have been invited to discuss the future of production, consumption and labor. Other topics for discussion include technology solutions and emerging businesses all over the world and the methods to speed up their implementation, the current state of global competitiveness and methods to increase the capacity for innovation all over the world. The 2nd Forum of University and Research leaders is also expected to take place during the event.

In Br Evilázio’s view, PUCRS is in line with the major trends in innovation, development, competitiveness and sustainability. “We are the only Brazilian university to take part in the Global Innovation Summit 2017, which congregate renowned universities from the US, Europe and Asia as well as major public companies and institutions. To be part of such a major initiative, with PUCRS being a permanent member of GFCC, gives us agency in the most important international discussions and allow for us to conduct strategic partnerships that add value to our vision of world as a University, that is, to be an international reference in higher education by fostering innovation and social, environmental, scientific, cultural and economic development.”

Representatives of the Malaysian government, companies, institutions and universities from all over world are among the guest speakers. The event is promoted by the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils (GFCC) – a non-profit international network, governmental agencies, universities and companies in their quest for success through innovation, as well as Might, an Industry-Government Group for High Technology of Malaysia.
