In support of an unprecedented partnership between New York University (NYU) and the School of Medicine of PUCRS, radiologist Nathalia Guarienti Missima is doing a doctoral research internship on a Capes grant. In February, Nathalia defended her qualification at PUCRS. She is being advised by Dr Bruno Hochhegger, and is working on her dissertation, which should be defended in Aug 2019. Today, Nathalia works at the Brain Institute of RS (BraIns) and at the São Lucas Hospital of PUCRS.

She has developed quite an innovative and multidisciplinary research project, in partnership with the NYU group. She intends to study the implementation and optimization of free-breathing magnetic resonance sequences. “I’ve been working on this project since 2016. We’re putting our findings together to submit it to an international journal. We want to present it in international congresses in this year and next”, she says.
