PUCRS and University Tübingen extend Pró-Mata agreementPUCRS and the University of Tübingen, from Germany, have signed an addendum extending the agreement for the Pró-Mata Center for Research and Conservation of Nature (CPCN). On Oct 5, the President of Tübingen, Dr Bernd Engler, was welcomed by the President of PUCRS, Br. Evilázio Teixeira. PUCRS’ Vice President, Dr Jaderson Costa da Costa; the Dean of PUCRS’ School of Humanities, Dr Draiton Gonzaga; and the Vice President for Research of Tübingen, Peter Grathwohl, were present at the meeting.

In light of the agreement, both institutions will join their efforts to provide teaching, research and extension activities at the facilities of Pró-Mata, which is accountable for the Institute for the Environment and is located in São Francisco de Paula. The partnership with the German university has been around since the establishment of the center, which was officially opened in 1996. The partnership’s seventh addendum is valid for five years, and may be extended every five years. The meeting, which occurred at PUCRS’ President’s Office, served to discuss other perspectives to expand the cooperation between both institutions. Engler, who attended the 8th Brazil – Germany Symposium of Sustainable Development , also paid a visit to the Brain Institute, as he was welcomed by its vice Director Dr Magda Nunes.
