New international ranking features PUCRS as best university in south of Brazil
In the new edition of QS World University Rankings 2020, PUCRS remains as one of the best universities in the world and the best private university in the south of Brazil. In this edition of the international ranking, released on June 19, 19 Brazilian institutions are featured on the list that includes 1,000 universities from 82 countries.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) stays atop whereas Stanford University and Harvard University are in the same positions they were in the previous year. In Brazil, PUCRS ranks 11th in a list that includes private and federal institutions and 3rd in the list of private universities in the country.
QS takes six indicators into account to compile the list of best universities in the world: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations by faculty, faculty to student ratio, international faculty and international students.
The initiative is promoted by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a British company specialized in higher education, with more than 250 employees in 5 continents. QS is best known for publishing QS World University Rankings, regarded as one of the most popular university rankings on the planet.
