PUCRS is part of a group of seven PUCs from all over the country
Earlier this year, joint actions between the seven Pontifical Catholic Universities of Brazil, in the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo gave birth to the PUCBR Network. Intended to strengthen the actions of internationalization by promoting student and faculty exchanges as well as cooperation agreements, the partnership was signed in April, in Porto Alegre, during the conference of the Brazilian Association of International Education – FAUBAI 2017.
Among the actions to be implemented by the PUCBR Network is the promotion of integrated courses in Portuguese as an Additional Language; the transfer of credits completed in partner institutions; and the sharing of research and graduate education data. Marcelo Tavares, director of International Relations of PUC Paraná and coordinator of the PUCBR Network, claims that “the next on-site meeting will be in August, in Curitiba, as the first actions and initiatives will be discussed and implemented under the scope of the Network”.

In August 2016, at a meeting in Curitiba (PR), at PUCPR, the heads of the international offices of PUC Minas Gerais (PUC Minas), São Paulo (PUC-SP), Campinas (PUC-Campinas) and Paraná (PUCPR) brought up the idea of implementing the PUCBR Network, with the goal of working together as PUC, an institution that is internationally recognized, in order to expand the influence of each of the institutions overseas. PUCs from Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and Goiás (PUC-Goiás) have also agreed to the initiative.
