Japanese neurologist teaches course at PUCRS

Jin Nakahara, from Keio University, talked about neuroimaging in extension program promoted by School of Medicine

IMG-20190111-WA0010-860x395The head of the department of neurology of the School of Medicine of Keio University and Keio University Hospital, Dr Jin Nakahara, came to PUCRS in January to teach the extension course Advanced Neuroimaging, promoted by the School of Medicine. Nakahara addressed tractography in neurosurgery planning, PET-CT and FMRi in dementias and epilepsy, the development of new neuroimaging modalities as well as the clinical perspectives in the use of these advanced modalities and structural image processing (hands-on).

In his visit to the University, the Japanese neurologist went to the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (BraIns), which he regarded as “a center that is very similar to the best neurosciences center from all over the world”, and PUCRS’ Science and Technology Park (Tecnopuc), as he had the chance to learn more about companies and startups specializing in technologies and innovation for health care. He was in the presence of the Superintendent for Teaching, Research, Development and Innovation of BraIns, Dr Douglas Sato, and was welcomed by the president Br. Evilázio Teixeira and Senior Vice President Dr Jaderson Costa da Costa.
