Labelo – PUCRS’ Electrical and Electronics Testing Laboratory opened its doors to guests from several countries for an international-level training session on methods for energy efficiency tests in domestic refrigerators. The meetings occurred from Aug 14 – 18, and featured 20 specialists from Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Dominican Republic. All the expenses have been paid by the Federal Ministry of Cooperation and Economic Development of Germany.

The program was sponsored by Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the National Institute of Metrology of Germany, and was offered in partnership with the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC), the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM), the Pan American Standards Commission (COPANT) and its national members (ABNT and Inmetro, in Brazil). “This event being offered at PUCRS shows how interested PTB is in the actions conducted in our laboratory, the strategic position and the influence PUCRS exerts in Latin America when it comes to energy conservation and product labeling”, says Israel Dulcimar Teixeira, Labelo’s director.

PTB is intended to strengthen the quality infrastructure in organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean and offer orientation sessions for the provision of services in specific areas for the rational use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency of products. The plan is to contribute to the implementation of national and regional energy policies.
