Incoming mobility programs at PUCRS joined a typical dinner at the Centro de Tradições Gaúchas (CTG) Tiarayú, in Porto Alegre. On May 30, 28 students from 9 countries had the chance to learn more about the culture of Rio Grande do Sul in a typical dance and dance show.

Students from Brazil and from the following countries joined the activity: Germany, Canada, Chile, Spain, France, Mexico, Portugal, Sweden and the UK. The program at the CTG feature a typical dinner, a dance show, a presentation on local traditions and interesting facts about the chimarrão.

For student Felipe Andrés Peña Pino, from the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Chile, the CTG experience evoked memories of Patagonia, in his country. “The yerba mate culture, churrasco and chamamé are big in that country, too. Although there are slight differences, I like learning more about new cultures. I appreciate the welcoming attitude of the gaúchos to international people. I am so thankful for such beautiful moments”, the Geological Engineering major says.
