By the Ministry of External Affairs of Italy

15/03/2018 - 17h00

Italian Design DayOn Mar 20, PUCRS will be proud to be offering a lecture in support of the Italian Design Day, by the Ministry of External Affairs of Italy, intended to showcase Italian design to 100 cities around the world. The activities are endorsed by its embassies and consulates and its stronghold, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. The lecture is at no charge and will be delivered by architect Suzane Queiroz at the auditorium – 9th floor – Building 50 (Av. Ipiranga, 6681 – Porto Alegre), at 7 PM, and will feature the General Consul of Italy, Mr Nicola Occhipinti.

The lecture Ecoefetividade no design de espaços efêmeros (Eco-effectivity in the design of ephemeral spaces) will address sustainable design as a system. Suzane will introduce the audience to the concept of Raw Design, which represents a shift of paradigms as it includes the Design of Ephemeral Spaces in project systems. The idea is to reinforce the importance of the creative nature of solutions that respect diversity as well as the ephemeral nature and aesthetic quality as values inherent to the cycles in harmony in nature and encourage the reduction of environmental impact in this area by reusing materials.

In Brazil, the Italian Design Day is coordinated by the Istituto Europeo di Design of Rio de Janeiro (IED Rio) but, in addition to Porto Alegre, several events will take place in other cities such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Brasília. The activities began on Mar 1, in Rio, and will end on Apr 4, with a special event at the Embassy of Italy in Brasília, in celebration of its 40th anniversary in 2018.
