Dean of University of Maryland School of Dentistry visits PUCRS

Mark Reynolds teaches class on biomaterials and presents internationalization opportunities

On Monday, Jan 13, PUCRS opened its doors to the Dean of the School of Dentistry of the University of Maryland, in the USA, Dr Mark Reynolds. He was invited by School of Health and Life Sciences professor, Dr Maximiliano Gomes, to join some seminars and activities at PUCRS.

In the morning, Reynolds was welcomed at the Office for International Cooperation by its Executive Coordinator, Mrs. Carla Cassol. At the meeting, Reynolds had the chance to learn more about the structure of PUCRS and its projects, as well as opportunities for inter-institutional cooperation. Visits to São Lucas Hospital, Brain Institute of RS, Science and Technology Museum and laboratories were also in his agenda.

PUCRS activities

During his visit to PUCRS, the US professor will teach three courses, two of them being open to the public. On Tuesday, Jan 14, Reynolds will be part of the defense committee of doctoral student Thayana Leão, in the Graduate Program in Dentistry. On Wednesday, 15, from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, the professor will be teaching an internationalization seminar, presenting the research structures and academic mobility opportunities at the University of Maryland. The session will be occur in the Living 360º Auditorium (room 215 of Campus Building 15 – av. Ipiranga, 6681).

On Thursday, Jan 16, Mark Reynolds will be teaching the course on Biomaterials, bone and tissue, for faculty and students in the area of Periodontics and Endodontics. The event is open to the interested public and will take place from 2:30 PM to 5 PM, at the Auditorium of Living 360º.
