The coordinator of Asociación Columbus, an association of European and Latin American universities, Kelly Henao, paid PUCRS a visit to attend the event Students 4 Change and take part in meetings to bring the university closer to other higher education institutions. The Colombian representative talked with Dr. Evilázio Teixeira and other Vice-Presidents about undergraduate projects through the Columbus Hub Academy.

Kelly had the chance to learn more about the actions of internationalization at PUCRS and the ideas behind the movement PUCRS 360º. The visit will serve to foster new partnerships in order to strengthen the ties of the University with other Latin American institutions.

At the Office for International Cooperation, she was welcomed by the Dean Dr Heloísa Orsi Koch Delgado, by the Administrative Coordinator Sandra Miño and by the New Business and Negotiation Specialist Dr Maria Elisabete Haase-Möllmann. During the meeting, they devised a plan of action to promote the School of Medicine’s, summer courses that are scheduled for January 2019. Henao must also serve as an editor and supporter of the project to bring Mexican students to the University.

The association’s main goal is to promote international cooperation and institutional development of universities by improving the management processes and structures. The President of PUCRS Br. Dr Evilázio Teixeira is a member of the Administrative Board (Latin America) 2018-2020.

Any institution interested in international cooperation and institutional development can apply for membership to Columbus. The mission of this 30-year-old institution is to advance university collaboration between Europe and Latin America for economic growth, social innovation and human development.
