The Institute of Culture (IC) of PUCRS opened its doors, on Mar 8, to Ana Mafalda Leite, a poet and professor from the Universidade de Lisboa. Leite presented the poetry book “Outras fronteiras: fragmentos de narrativas” at an event at Delfos – Center for Documentation and Cultural Memory in support of the International Women’s Day.

Ana Mafalda Leite came to Porto Alegre following an invitation from graduate student Luara Pinto Minuzzi and Dr Paulo Ricardo Kralik AngeliniSchool of Humanities  professor, to teach the course Literaturas Africanas em Língua Portuguesa (Portuguese-language African Literatures). The course was delivered in the first week of March by professors of PUCRS’ Graduate Program in Letters .

In addition to poem reading, the program included a round table and music presentations. Ana Mafalda joined a discussion on Portuguese-language African Literatures. The pianist of the Institute of Culture, Mariane Kerber, and the vocal coach of PUCRS Choir, soprano Cintia de Los Santos, played “Lua Branca”, by Chiquinha Gonzaga, “Esquadros”, by Adriana Calcanhoto, and “Misty”, by Ella Fritzgerald.
